| The Hanover Township Fire Department proudly reports a highly active and successful month of April 2026, marked by strong emergency response performance, continued professional development, and meaningful community engagement.
Throughout April, department personnel responded to 66 total incidents, with the majority occurring within Hanover Township (54 responses), while also providing valuable mutual aid assistance to neighboring municipalities on 8 occasions and supporting one Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) deployment. Motor vehicle incidents remained the most frequent call type, accounting for 14 responses, followed by vehicle fires (5), commercial fire alarms (5), and gas leaks (4). Engine 1 remained the department’s busiest apparatus, handling 36 responses during the month.
April also demonstrated the department’s strong commitment to training and operational readiness, with members completing an impressive 170 total training hours. Major training initiatives included EL-22 Interior Firefighter, Emergency Networking onboarding, PSFA Truck Academy, Natural Gas Emergencies, Autism Awareness for First Responders, and EMS-focused continuing education in Naloxone administration, overdoses, bleeding, and shock management. These programs ensure members remain prepared to meet the evolving needs of the community with professionalism and skill.
Additionally, Fire Police personnel contributed 32 hours of service, supporting traffic control, incident scene safety, and mutual aid operations throughout the month.
Beyond emergency services, April highlighted Hanover Area Fire District’s dedication to public outreach and service beyond the fireground. Members successfully completed Autism Awareness training and supported S.A.F.E. Inc. through internal fundraising efforts, while the annual Joseph Nealon Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament once again proved successful despite challenging weather conditions.
As the department continues to balance emergency response, advanced training, and community involvement, April 2026 serves as another example of Hanover Township Fire Department's unwavering commitment to protecting and serving the residents of Hanover Township and surrounding communities. |
